Founded in 1974 by the initiative of nineteen Nations, the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association (ITA) which aims are: to encourage the use of the subsurface for the benefit of public, environment and sustainable development and to promote advances in planning, design, construction, maintenance and safety of tunnels and underground space, by bringing together information thereon and by studying questions related thereto. Since then, ITA has considerably developed. Presently, ITA gathers 55 Member Nations and 280 Corporate or Individual Affiliate Members.

The mission of the international nonprofit NFPA, established in 1896, is to reduce the worldwide burden of fire and other hazards on the quality of life by providing and advocating consensus codes and standards, research, training, and education. The world's leading advocate of fire prevention and an authoritative source on public safety, NFPA develops, publishes, and disseminates more than 300 consensus codes and standards intended to minimize the possibility and effects of fire and other risks. NFPA membership totals more than 81,000 individuals around the world and more than 80 national trade and professional organizations.

 

 

The Society of Fire Protection Engineers was established in 1950 and incorporated as in independent organization in 1971. It is the professional society representing those practicing the field of fire protection engineering. The Society has approximately 4500 members in the United States and abroad, and 57 regional chapters. The purpose of the Society is to advance the science and practice of fire protection engineering and its allied fields, to maintain a high ethical standard among its members and to foster fire protection engineering education.

 

 

vfdb is the German Fire Protection Association. National symposia and international fire protection seminars (IFPS) with national and international experts supplement the detailed work of the workgroups and technical sections of the vfdb.  Currently about 2000 individual members and 450 corporative members , among them more than 100 city councils, moreover, Ministries, research institutes, organisations, societies as well as the allied national and international fire-brigade organizations stand by the goals of the vfdb. The vfdb is a "Member is of CFPA-Europe" (Confederation of Fire Protection Associations).

 

The IRU Academy is the training arm of the International Road Transport Union (IRU), acting as a global body that works with its partners and panels of experts to develop the skills of road transport professionals and enhancing their knowledge of and ability to deal with key aspects of road transport operations in order to achieve the objectives of improved road safety and increased professionalism whilst ensuring international recognition of professional qualification.
 

IAFSS was founded with the primary objective of encouraging research into the science of preventing and mitigating the adverse effects of fires and of providing a forum for presenting the results of such research. The International Association for Fire Safety Science perceives its role to lie in the scientific bases for achieving progress in unsolved fire problems. It will seek cooperation with other organizations, be they concerned with application or with the sciences that are fundamental to our interests in fire. It will seek to promote high standards, to encourage and stimulate scientists to address fire problems, to provide the necessary scientific foundations and means to facilitate applications aimed at reducing life and property loss.

 

The Transportation and Development Institute of ASCE (T&DI) was founded in 2002 as forum for civil engineers whose main interests lie in the field of transportation and development to share ideas and the latest innovations that affect their discipline. The Transportation and Development Institute is comprised of the former ASCE Air Transportation Division, Highway Division, Urban Planning and Development Division, and the ASCE Automated People Movers Standards Committee. T&DI is comprised of over 14,000 dedicated members ranging from scientists to engineers, all of whom come together to share a common vision of becoming a global leader for integrated transportation and development that is safe, secure, and sustainable.
